THE DAY THE EARTH BLEW UP

*CUT TO THE CHASE*

The film opens as a lone Scientist (Fred Tatasciore) at an observatory discovers that an asteroid is making its way towards Earth. Soon, a much faster UFO starts hurtling to the ground, crashing through the roof of a house before making a crater in the ground. The Scientist goes to investigate but appears to be attacked by an unseen entity.

A montage shows years earlier, where Daffy Duck and Porky Pig (both voiced by Eric Bauza) were found as babies by Farmer Jim (also Fred Tatasciore). He raised them like brothers, with Porky being well-behaved and smart, while Daffy was always rather “looney”. One day, Jim is suddenly gone, but he leaves the house to Daffy and Porky under the promise that they always stick together.

In the present, Daffy and Porky are preparing for their annual home inspection. The house has fallen into pretty bad shape, but they are confident that they will pass. They are met by the inspector, Mrs. Grecht (Laraine Newman). She is immediately disgusted by the house and its condition, but she points out the giant hole in the boys’ roof from the UFO, with green goo covering the hole. Mrs. Grecht gives them ten days to fix up the roof, or the house will be condemned, and they will be without a home.

Daffy and Porky resort to finding odd jobs (framed like a classic Looney Tunes cartoon) to scrape up extra money to fix the roof since they don’t have enough to pay a roofer. They get fired from every job (mostly thanks to Daffy) and almost give up until they are at a diner, where they meet Petunia Pig (Candi Milo). Porky quickly falls in love with her before Daffy goes to introduce themselves to her. She works at the Goodie Gum factory and is trying to perfect a new flavor, while expressing her distaste for the factory trying to unveil a new flavor, “Super Strongberry”, which is just an old flavor repackaged with a new name. Petunia then offers the duo jobs at the factory, which they accept.

Daffy and Porky adjust to the job, with Porky trying to rein in Daffy’s shenanigans. While Porky tries to get closer to Petunia, Daffy notices the Scientist, now mind-controlled, going towards the main valve room with a briefcase full of green goo. He dumps the contents inside the vat of gum before leaving. Daffy grows suspicious.

The new gum flavor starts its global rollout. Daffy observes that people who chew the gum fall under a mind-control spell. During a ceremony for the gum’s release, Daffy tears his feathers off and runs to the stage to try to warn others about the gum turning people into zombies, but he just looks crazy and also humiliates the Mayor (Wayne Knight) by trying to prove his point. This causes Daffy and Porky to both get fired from the factory. Meanwhile, a mysterious Invader (Peter MacNicol) sees that his plan is being set in motion.

Porky is mad at Daffy for costing them their jobs, and he attempts to chew the gum to prove that Daffy is wrong. They end up bringing the gum to Petunia by using one of her machines to test it without chewing it themselves. The Invader activates the gum, which causes it to morph into a gigantic creature that chases Daffy, Porky, and Petunia. Petunia grabs a flamethrower and incinerates the gum monster.

The trio come up with an idea to use a rotten egg formula that Petunia created to use on everyone so they can spit the gum out, and then they burn it up. However, Porky knows Daffy will screw things up, so he hides Petunia’s stash of eggs and tells Daffy that they need him to lay more. Porky and Petunia head off and manage to get a majority of people to spit the gum out so they can burn it, but Daffy leaves to join the action and ends up destroying the gas sprayer and the flamethrower. The mind-controlled citizens chase after the trio, but Petunia ends up captured and also zombified. When Daffy and Porky try to hide at their house, the zombies catch up to them, and the sentient gum destroys their home. The Invader then summons them onto his spaceship.

Onboard the spaceship, Daffy and Porky argue, with Porky telling Daffy that’s his fault that everything always gets ruined. The Invader then sets the next step of his plan in motion by having everyone on Earth blow a bubble with the gum, creating a bubble that encases the entire planet. Daffy and Porky set their anger aside and start to blame themselves for what happened. They cry so hard that their tears take out the lasers in the cage they are trapped in, and then having them roll down towards The Invader, breaking the mind control of Petunia and The Scientist as well. The trio then use the ship’s controls to produce a needle that pops the bubble and covers the planet in gum.

The Invader then comes out to say that the three have ruined his plan to SAVE the earth. He was trying to use the giant bubble to shield it from the incoming asteroid that the Scientist discovered earlier, as well as his hope to gather what he thinks is Earth’s most valuable resource – boba. The five then try to come up with a back-up plan to destroy the asteroid before it hits Earth. Porky remembers Petunia’s gum formula, which causes explosions. They gather enough material to put inside the asteroid’s weak spot, along with a large number of wind-up teeth to chew the gum.

Daffy, Porky, and Petunia set the gum inside the asteroid, but the teeth tip over before they can chew the gum. Porky then decides that it’s up to Daffy to save them by being “looney” and causing the stalactites above to fall and “chew” them. Daffy unleashes his wackiest antics (the whole “hoo-hoo!” thing he does with a hammer) and brings the stalactites down. The gum starts to explode, but Daffy gets stuck on his way out. Petunia makes it onto the ship, but Porky runs back to save Daffy, as they kept their promise to Farmer Jim to stick together. The asteroid is obliterated with the two of them still inside.

Petunia returns to Earth with The Invader and The Scientist. The citizens hail them as heroes, and they take The Invader to get his boba, but Petunia laments the loss of her friends. Suddenly, a stalactite with Daffy and Porky stuck to it falls to Earth. Having survived, Porky runs out and gets kissed by Petunia, while he and Daffy are also treated as heroes. Petunia also finds that the secret to perfecting her new gum formula is crystals from the asteroid.

Daffy and Porky return home and wonder what they are going to do next. They see Farmer Jim in the clouds talking to them and telling them about the framed picture of the three of them that Porky was carrying. The picture is also a home insurance policy worth $5 million. Daffy and Porky are relieved that they can now build a new home together.

During the credits, Daffy, Porky, and Petunia have built a new mansion. Mrs. Grecht comes by for a follow-up inspection and faints when she sees it. After the credits, Porky does his “that’s all, folks!” bit, before Daffy comes out to tell him to leave room for a sequel.

Daffy Duck and Porky Pig have been together their whole lives, being raised by Farmer Jim. When they are in danger of losing the home they grew up in, the two try to get jobs but keep getting fired. They meet Petunia Pig, whom Porky falls for, and she gets them jobs working at a gum factory. There, Daffy discovers a mind-controlled Scientist dumping green alien goo into the gum supply. Soon, the new gum flavor is rolled out globally, and everyone who chews the gum falls under the mind control of an alien Invader.

Daffy, Porky, and Petunia resolve to stop the spread of the mind control, but Porky keeps Daffy away for fear that he will ruin things with his "looney" behavior. Porky and Petunia nearly stop the invasion, but Daffy does indeed ruin things. Petunia gets mind-controlled while Daffy and Porky have their house destroyed before they are captured. The Invader then has everyone on Earth blow the gum to create a giant bubble surrounding the planet.

After resolving their differences, Daffy and Porky free themselves, along with Petunia and the Scientist, and they blow up the bubble. However, the Invader was trying to shield the Earth from an incoming asteroid, as well as coming to the planet for boba. The five then resolve to use Petunia's experimental gum to place inside the asteroid to blow it up. Porky then tells Daffy to use his looney antis to help cause some stalactites in the asteroid to blow it up.

The five are treated as heroes, and Daffy and Porky find a home insurance policy that helps them build a bigger and better home.
