*CUT TO THE CHASE*

The film opens as Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) is explaining his home planet, Eternia. It is a world that blends magic and science. Adam lived in the kingdom of Eternos with his parents, King Randor and Queen Marlena (James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley). The Sorceress (Morena Baccarin) created the Sword of Power (which Adam admits is a lame name), which harnesses the power of the gods and grants the ability to whoever wields it. The Sword is kept protected in Castle Greyskull.

As a child, Adam (Artie Wilkinson-Hunt) trains with other children under Duncan, the Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), along with Duncan’s adopted daughter Teela (Eire Farrell). During a training session, Randor comes out and makes Adam duel him with a sword, which ends quickly when the boy is knocked to the ground. Duncan helps Adam up and tells him to stay strong for when his father turns around to look at him, but he never does.

Teela tries to comfort Adam, but the kingdom falls under attack by the forces of the proudly sinister warlock Skeletor (Jared Leto), accompanied by his right hand woman, Evil-Lyn (Alison Brie). The kingdom’s warriors – Fisto (Johannes Haukur Johannesson), Ram-Man (Jon Xue Zhang), Mekaneck (James Wilkinson), and many others – battle the villains before they can seize Castle Greyskull. Duncan fights with henchman Trap Jaw (Sam C. Wilson) but is swiftly defeated. Teela gets her father away from harm’s path, but Duncan is devastated by his failure.

Skeletor and his minions invade Castle Greyskull and take Randor captive. As they search for the Sword, Marlena guides Adam and the Sword to safety. The Sorceress opens a portal to Earth, where Marlena comes from, so that Adam may be sent away with the Sword for protection, as it is the only way for him to return to Eternia. Skeletor catches up to them and knocks Marlena out before capturing her. Adam jumps through the portal but accidentally lets go of the Sword, and he falls into a lake on Earth.

The entire story has been told by Adam to his date at a restaurant. Naturally, she thinks he sounds like a lunatic and she leaves. Adam goes by “Adam Glenn” and lives with a roommate, Hussein (Christian Vunipola), who also thinks Adam is crazy for talking about Eternia without realizing how he sounds. It has also plagued him since childhood, with kids thinking he was too weird for making references to people like Ram-Man.

Adam works at a dead end job, spending his time searching for the Sword of Power on Google to see if he can find it and go home. His boss Suzie (Sasheer Zamata) calls him into her office and gives him the ultimatum to do his job or get fired. Adam answers a text from someone claiming to know where the Sword is, so he accepts the end of his job and leaves.

Adam tracks the Sword down to a comic book store, being held by a large statue. He pulls the Sword from the statue and tries to send himself home by uttering the magic words in front of a crowd…but he forgets what he’s supposed to say, so he just looks crazy again. Adam then takes off running with the sword.

The next morning, Adam is arrested by two police officers for the sword theft. While on the bridge, traffic stops, and people start running in a panic. One of Skeletor’s soldiers, Beast Man (Gary Martin), is attacking, looking for the Sword. Adam breaks out of the police car since the cops have already run, and he tries to escape Beast Man. Adam is found by Teela (Camila Mendes), who aids him in fighting Beast Man. Adam takes a moment to recognize Teela (she was previously taller than him) but joins her in evading Beast Man. Teela takes Adam to her ship in front of a crowd of people, and they fly away before Beast Man can catch them.

Teela flies Adam back to Eternia, which has become ravaged over the past decade thanks to Skeletor. She brings Adam to the other warriors, where it turns out their goofy names were all made up by Adam since he was a kid and didn’t know what they were called (“Fisto” is really Malcolm, for instance). They don’t believe he is the long lost prince, so they throw him and Teela into the dungeons. Adam reunites with Duncan, who has now become a bitter alcoholic due to his defeat by Trap Jaw. They are also joined by Roboto (Kristen Wiig), a battle bot that was reprogrammed by Duncan to be a service bot, leaving her as a snarky servant. After being convinced by Adam, Roboto uses her strength to break through the walls so that they can escape.

Trap Jaw and his goons invade the heroes’ fortress to find the Sword. Adam tries a form of conflict mediation by talking it out with Trap Jaw, but he won’t hear it. Adam is forced to fight and is spoken to by The Sorceress, who reminds him what to say for him to unlock the Sword’s might: “By the power of Greyskull…I HAVE THE POWER!” Adam says these words and is imbued with godlike strength and abilities. He fights Trap Jaw and rips off his mechanical arm. The heroes fly away in their ship, but Skeletor has already seen Adam in possession of the sword and gets mad at his goons and Evil-Lyn for not getting him the Sword.

Skeletor’s goons chase the heroes through the forest in their own aircrafts. Adam jumps out of the ship to fight back and pilots his own little vehicle. He even grabs one of the aircrafts by their blades and tosses the ship away into a tree. Following their defeat, Skeletor’s goons capture the Heroic Warriors and hold them hostage until they can say who possesses the Sword. Skeletor forces one warrior, Moss Man (Stephen Adentan), to step out and beg for his life. When he refuses, Skeletor melts Moss Man. Fisto then tells him it was Prince Adam, and Skeletor hatches an idea.

The heroes stop in the forest. Adam has a heart-to-heart with Duncan, plus an almost romantic moment with Teela until she says that they are just friends. Skeletor projects himself via aurora borealis to get Adam’s attention. He tells Adam that his parents are still alive and are being held prisoner. Skeletor says he will reunite them if Adam brings the Sword to Snake Mountain.

Adam is accompanied to Snake Mountain by Teela, Duncan, and Roboto. Adam is brought to confront Skeletor, who is with Randor. Adam knows that Skeletor is trying to trick him, and sure enough, more of the Evil Warriors emerge. Adam fights them off, while Randor watches and is amazed by his son. Adam fires a blast at Skeletor but accidentally causes the ceiling to cave in on Randor. Skeletor flees after getting the Sword while Adam digs his father out of the rubble. Randor expresses remorse over how he treated Adam as a child and shows pride over who he has become before he dies.

The heroes are imprisoned with the rest of the warriors. Adam somberly reunites with Marlena and his pet tiger Cringer (Tom Wilton) after confirming Randor’s death. Adam thinks it’s his fault that everything has gone wrong, but Duncan gives him a pep talk to lift his spirits.

Skeletor attempts to gain the Sword of Power’s abilities, but him saying the magic words does nothing for him. He nearly attacks Evil-Lyn until she assures him that she can grant him his powers through a ritual at Castle Greyskull.

Adam rouses the heroes together so that they can work together and retake Eternos. Roboto shoots the top of the bars so everyone can push their way through. Fisto, Ram-Man, Mekaneck, and Dian (Christiaan Bettridge) take on Skeletor’s goons, utilizing their special abilities (Ram-Man rams people, Fisto “fists” people, etc) to mow them down. Meanwhile, Duncan and Roboto fight together after he reprogrammed her to be a battle bot again. They take on Trap Jaw in his ship, but he fires at Roboto and destroys her body. Duncan leaps onto the ship and fights Trap Jaw before locking a grenade in his mouth and jumping out before the villain goes kaboom.

Adam and Teela infiltrate Castle Greyskull to confront Skeletor and Evil-Lyn. Teela fights the witch while Adam attempts to fight Skeletor using the Sword. In their fight, Skeletor gets inside Adam’s mind before using his staff to destroy the Sword. He impales Adam with the broken end and leaves him to die. Adam sees himself in his old apartment, close to death, until The Sorceress reappears before him. She tells him that the power was never in the Sword, but in himself. Adam is revived and regains his strength before reforming the Sword. After making one more attempt to get through to Skeletor like a hero, the villain declares he is happy to be evil. Adam then proceeds to utilize his full strength and beat the snot out of Skeletor. He then grabs the staff and crushes it in his hand, causing the energy from the staff to obliterate Skeletor’s body. Evil-Lyn escapes.

Six months later, Eternos returns to its former glory, with Marlena returning to the throne. Duncan is once again the Man-At-Arms, and he has fixed Roboto’s body, joining the rest of the Heroic Warriors. Adam has also brought Hussein to Eternia to prove that everything was real. When there is word of a distress signal coming in, Adam decides to spring into action. He hops onto Cringer’s back as the tiger dons his Battle Cat armor, riding across the land as the new protector of Eternia…HE-MAN!

Before the credits roll, the wizard Orko appears for a few final words before bidding the viewers farewell, “until next time”.

Mid-Credits Scene: Duncan finds Marlena looking out into the kingdom, seeming somber. He promises to her that her other child is still out there and will return to Eternos. In the Fright Zone, there stands the warrior princess Adora, AKA…SHE-RA!

Post-Credits Scene: Evil-Lyn recovers Skeletor’s skull and takes it away with her. The last thing we hear is Skeletor’s evil laugh.

In the world of Eternia, the villainous Skeletor has taken over the kingdom of Eternos with his forces. With help from The Sorceress, Queen Marlena sends her son, Prince Adam, to her home world of Earth, along with the Sword of Power, to stop Skeletor from acquiring it. Adam jumps through a portal but loses the Sword and spends the next 15 years looking for it so he can return home.

Adam finds the Sword at a comic book store and steals it. He is pursued by Skeletor's minion Beast Man until he is saved by his childhood friend Teela. She takes him back to Eternia, which has become ravaged by Skeletor's forces. Adam and Teela join Teela's adoptive father, former Man-At-Arms Duncan, plus battle bot Roboto, to fight against Skeletor. When the villain learns that Prince Adam has returned and possesses the sword, Skeletor calls for Adam to meet at Snake Mountain so that he may reunite with Marlena and his father, King Randor.

In the fight, Randor is accidentally killed but expresses pride in his son. The heroes are imprisoned along with the kingdom's other warriors, but Duncan encourages Adam to lead them against Skeletor. They break out and battle the villains on their way to Castle Greyskull, where Skeletor's right hand witch Evil-Lyn is set to do a ritual for him to acquire the Sword's power. Adam and Teela fight Skeletor and Evil-Lyn. Skeletor nearly kills Adam, but The Sorceress appears before Adam to tell him it was not the sword, but himself, that possesses the power. Adam regains his strength to fight Skeletor, destroying his staff and causing the villain to disintegrate.

Eternia returns to its former glory, and Adam becomes the new protector of his world, He-Man. Meanwhile, his long lost sister Adora/She-Ra is still out there, and Evil-Lyn recovers Skeletor's skull to potentially resurrect him.
