FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S 2

1981 – People are gathered at the very first Freddy Fazbear’s location. A young girl named Charlotte (Audrey Lynn Marie) is alone and sitting in front of the stage, waiting for the animatronics to rise up. She is met by a young Vanessa (Miriam Spumpkin), who is Charlotte’s only friend and tries to get her to hang out with the other kids for a birthday party. Charlotte then notices William Afton/Spring Bonnie (Matthew Lillard) guiding a young boy in the back room. Despite her cries for help, all the adults ignore Charlotte. She goes to find the boy herself and is pursued by Afton. Charlotte emerges from the stage with the boy and screams before collapsing dead with stab wounds in her back. She falls though the stage door but is held up by an animatronic known as The Marionette.

2001 – Vanessa (Elizabeth Lail) wakes up to a phone call from Mike (Josh Hutcherson), asking if they are still on for dinner that night. Abby (Piper Rubio) thinks Mike likes Vanessa, but he insists they are just friends. A year after their ordeal at Freddy Fazbear’s, Abby misses the animatronics – Freddy, Chica, Bonnie, and Foxy – but Mike tries to get her to move on.
Abby talks to her friends at school about her time with the animatronics. Some kids think she is weird while others are fascinated, especially since renewed interest in Freddy’s has created an event called “FazFest”. Abby wants to sign up for the robotics contest coming up, but due to her obsession with the animatronics, her teacher Mr. Berg (Wayne Knight) tries to discourage her from entering so that she won’t embarrass the school.

Mike and Vanessa later meet for dinner, and it is clear that they are both having a hard time getting over their traumas. When he returns home, he finds that Abby has left to go “fix her friends”. Mike finds Abby sitting in the ruins of the Freddy’s where they went through it all. After he convinces her to get up, Abby finds a Faz-Speaker toy and takes it home with her.

A trio of paranormal YouTubers – Lisa (Mckenna Grace), Alex (Teo Briones), and Rob (David Andrew Calvillo) – arrive at the original Freddy’s, led inside by a mysterious man (Freddy Carter). After seeing all of the original animatronics and splitting up, Alex is ripped to pieces by an unseen animatronic, while Rob is killed in the river moat ride. Lisa is then attacked by The Marionette, who uses her body like an actual puppet. The mystery man addresses The Marionette as Charlotte and welcomes her back.

Vanessa’s PTSD gets so bad that she ends up pulling a gun on someone at the gym. At night, she has a nightmare that she is being pursued by Afton until she shoots him off the balcony, but he continues to taunt her.

Abby hears the Faz-Speaker talking to her, directing her to where she can find the animatronics. She rides her bike to the original Freddy’s, where she is greeted by Toy Chica (voice of Megan Fox).

Vanessa learns where Abby went and tries to tell Mike, but he informs her that he found a flyer with a phone number on it and spoke to a man who happens to be Charlotte’s father Henry (Skeet Ulrich), and he mentioned Vanessa’s connection to Charlotte. She explains that she used to visit Charlotte’s ghost at the original Freddy’s, where she tried to help her go to sleep. Mike’s trust in Vanessa starts to break.

Abby takes a newly designed robotic doll based off Chica to school for her robotics project. Mr. Berg makes an excuse to grab the doll and drops it on purpose to get Abby out of there. She takes her bike to get Toy Chica and bring her as her project, but she tells Abby that she needs to enter a code to allow her, plus Toy Freddy (voice of Kellen Goff) and Toy Bonnie (voice of MatPat), to leave the premises. Vanessa, who already went to Freddy’s to try and talk to Charlotte, is caught by The Marionette and forces her to give up the security code to allow the animatronics to leave, or they will kill Abby. After succeeding, The Marionette disposes of Lisa’s body after being done with her.

Mike goes to Henry’s house, where he learns that Henry has been calling out the Freddy’s chain before the child murders at the other Freddy’s took place. Henry gives Mike a music box that he used to play to get Charlotte to fall asleep so that it might keep her spirit at rest.

Abby brings Toy Chica to school, but Mr. Berg accuses her of getting someone in a suit to cost the school their donation. Toy Chica goes to stalk Mr. Berg and crush his head in her hands. Toy Freddy walks through FazFest and wins over fans before going off to find some targets.

Mike goes to the first Freddy’s to hack into the computers. He encounters the old prototype bodies of the original suits. Mike frees Vanessa before using the computer to track down the animatronics, who are all being controlled by Charlotte/The Marionette. Vanessa goes after them while Mike stays behind and protects himself with a discarded Freddy mask.

Toy Bonnie and Toy Freddy stalk the neighborhood to target adults, as Charlotte is angry at the adults for not listening to her and dooming her to her fate. The Prototypes start to come to life as well, leading Prototype Foxy to attack Vanessa. Toy Freddy goes after a couple, but Vanessa sends the animatronics crashing into each other before getting the couple out safely. Mike manages to shut the animatronics down before they attack him. However, one remains, and it’s going to his house. Mike stops at the Freddy’s that he worked at to try and call upon the classic animatronics to try and help Abby if they really care about her.

The Marionette breaks free from Toy Chica’s chest and possesses Abby before Mike arrives. Vanessa is taken to the house by Mike’s friend Jeremiah (Theodus Crane). The Marionette attacks Vanessa until Mike plays the music box, causing her to retreat from Abby’s body. The mystery man from earlier shows up at the house and reveals himself to be Michael Afton, Vanessa’s estranged brother who wants to continue their father’s twisted works, using Charlotte’s ghost to carry out his dirty work. Toy Freddy, Toy Bonnie, Toy Chica, and Prototype Foxy attack the house, but the classic four animatronics show up to tear them apart and protect Abby, while Jeremiah knocks Michael out as he tries to flee. Unfortunately, their bodies are not able to withstand so much time outside of Freddy’s, so the ghost children are now able to cross over. One of the ghost boys warns Mike that with them gone, they can no longer hold Afton’s spirit back, and he will come back stronger than ever. Michael also disappears.

Jeremiah takes Mike and Abby away from the house. Mike orders Vanessa to stay away from him and Abby now that he can no longer trust her since she kept Michael from him. As she watches them leave, The Marionette possesses Vanessa’s body.

During the credits, three teens go to the other Freddy’s and find Springtrap’s body in a hidden room that Mike had kept locked up. After they cover him to try and take him with them, Springtrap’s eyes begin to glow back to life. At the end of the credits, a voice message from Henry can be heard, where he tells Mike that he was Afton’s business partner and warns him about Charlotte’s ghost.

One year after the ordeal at Freddy Fazbear's, Mike and Vanessa have tried to move on from their traumas, but Abby misses the animatronics - Freddy, Chica, Bonnie, and Foxy - and wants to reunite with them. An animatronic from the very first Freddy's, The Marionette, is controlled by the angry spirit of a girl named Charlotte, who was murdered by William Afton/Springtrap when adults ignored her pleas for help. The Marionette kills two teens and possesses their friend, and also controls the animatronics at the original Freddy's - Toy Freddy, Toy Chica, Toy Bonnie - and manipulates Abby into helping them leave the premises.

Vanessa knew Charlotte as kids and was there at the time of her death, and the fact that she kept this from Mike shakes his trust in her. He talks to Charlotte's father Henry, who has been speaking out against Freddy's for decades and gives Mike a music box to use to put Charlotte to sleep. Toy Chica kills Abby's teacher Mr. Berg after he was nasty to her, while the other animatronics target the other adults in town. Mike and Vanessa work together to shut the animatronics down, but one of them is going to Mike's house.

The Marionette possesses Abby, but Mike drives her out with the music box. The other Toy animatronics, plus the Prototypes from the first Freddy's, come to attack, led by Vanessa's estranged brother Michael, who wants to continue their father's evil deeds and take out half the town. The Classic Freddy gang show up after being called upon by Mike, and they destroy the other animatronics, but they shut down since their bodies cannot sustain outside Freddy's. This allows the ghost children to cross over, but now Mike's trust in Vanessa is completely shattered after learning of Michael, who gets knocked out but manages to disappear. With Vanessa alone, The Marionette possesses her.

A group of teens find the abandoned Springtrap body, unknowingly bringing him back to life.
