THE FURIOUS
*CUT TO THE CHASE*NOTE: This spoiler was submitted by Jeremy
The film opens somewhere in Southeast Asia. A woman named Matia (JeeJa Yanin) infiltrates a hideout and rescues a young boy. As she guides the boy to safety, two men pursue Matia. She fights them off with her martial arts skills, but lead trafficker Paklung (Joey Iwanaga) and his archer henchman Tak (Yahan Ruhian) arrive. Tak fires an arrow that kills the kid, before aiming at arrow directly at Matia.
Elsewhere, a mute handyman named Wang Wei (Xie Miao) lives with his daughter Rainy (Yang Enyou), who has been learning kung fu under her father. He brings her to get a haircut, where Rainy complains about it being cut too short because the other kids already think she’s a tomboy. Rainy wants to move back to their old home, but Wei refuses and intends to send her alone. Rainy storms out of the shop.
On the streets, Rainy encounters a young boy who is injured and covered in filth. He claims his family needs help, but the boy lures Rainy to be kidnapped by traffickers. Wei quickly realizes something is wrong and runs after her. He spots the truck that Rainy has been thrown into, and he chases the truck on foot. Wei manages to catch up to the truck and charges toward it. He hops on, throws the keys away, and starts fighting the traffickers, including the brutish Ho (Brian Le) and one with an afro. Wei comes close to rescuing Rainy, who has been knocked unconscious, but the traffickers start the truck again and drive off. Ho almost drops Rainy off the truck but they escape from Wei’s sight when he is hit by a car.
Wei staggers to the police station and tells the officers what has happened. Sergeant Yadong (Manatsanun Phanlerdwongsakul) goes over Wei’s history and cannot find a single bit of information on him.
Ho and the Afro guy are in a nightclub operated by their boss, Mr. Song (Sahajak Boonthanakit), who is also Ho’s father. Journalist Navin (Joe Taslim), who was Matia’s husband, is investigating their organization and has scored a meeting with Song. Wei also arrives at the club after finding a lead there. He gets into a fight with Song’s goons, leading the boss to believe that this man is working with Navin. Navin defends himself against Song’s men while Wei messes them all up with a hammer. He goes after Afro Guy and messes him up. Wei and Navin find each other, leading to a quick scrap until Navin sees Wei’s picture of Rainy, and he realizes that they are on the same side. The two escape, and Navin takes a flash drive with evidence on it.
For his failure in killing Wei or Navin, Afro Guy gets brutally beaten. His son (the boy that lured Rainy) is forced to watch as the man gets frozen into a block of ice. Rainy also scolds the boy for getting her kidnapped, though he tells her she is foolish for “pretending” to be kind.
Navin breaks down to Wei how Matia was investigating the trafficking organization before she went missing, and she had gathered a bunch of evidence to back it up. The two men infiltrate a fridge factory operated by Song after they look over the footage from the club. They kill and knock out Song’s men before fighting him and Ho. Song shoots at Wei and Navin but gets knocked unconscious. Ho proves to be a challenge because of his size and speed, but the men are able to seemingly kill him.
Wei and Navin tie Song up to an electric fence, turning it on to torture him for information. Both men have to stop the other from overdoing it, even though they hate Song with good reason. Song eventually tells them that the children were moved from the fridge factory to a location called the “Snake Pit”.
Paklung is with his pregnant wife when he gets a call from the Chief of Police over what happened at the club and the fridge factory. He and Tak track Song down and learn that he told Wei and Navin about the Snake Pit. Tak fires multiple arrows into Song’s body, leaving him looking like a pin cushion. Ho survives his injuries and later comes across his father’s corpse, yelling in rage.
At the Snake Pit, the children are gathered into a room upstairs. Rainy attacks one of the traffickers and leads an escape attempt, while Wei and Navin arrive as well. The children are recaptured and taken to their room. Navin live-streams their arrival, as well as revealing Matia’s evidence to the public. This leads police and a crowd of civilians outside the Snake Pit. Wei and Navin find Rainy. While Wei is elated and wants to leave, Rainy convinces him that they need to rescue the rest of the children.
The two men proceed to annihilate the traffickers, providing Rainy a chance to lead the children to an escape. They make it to the top floor and tie a bunch of sheets together so that they can start climbing down. The civilians witness this and urge the police to act, but the Chief orders the police to stand down and acts like there is no trafficking going on. Yadong and her troops defy the Chief’s orders and rush to help the children climb down. Rainy nearly falls after the sheets rip, but she is caught, and the other children are kept safe, including the injured boy. The cops break into the Snake Pit and shoot or arrest the remaining traffickers.
Paklung learns his trafficking ring has been exposed and is falling apart. His father-in-law, kingpin Kun Tai Lao (Sahatchai Chumrum) calls him in. While he knows about his criminal activities, he is disgusted that Paklung would be involved with children. Paklung launches a rampage against Lao and his associates, including the Chief, brutally slaughtering them all. In his rage, Paklung accidentally stabs his wife in the stomach, killing her and their baby. He is distraught and proceeds to go after his revenge.
Wei and Navin are being held in the police station until the morning. The other children are picked up by their parents, while Rainy and the limping boy stay in custody. Paklung and Tak show up, with Tak taking out nearly every cop in the station with his arrows, but only injuring Yadong. Wei and Navin grab the keys and escape their cell, while Rainy and the boy stay hidden. The men get the kids, but the villains corner them. Paklung blames Wei and Navin for his life and family falling apart. In the ensuing chaos, Tak fires his arrow and hits Rainy in the leg. The boy keeps her safe while the four men begin to brawl.
Ho comes bursting into the station, intent on killing everybody and leading to a five-man showdown. He starts with Paklung and Tak, knowing they killed his father. Ho literally mops the floor with the men, but Navin eventually takes on Tak by himself, avoiding getting cut by Tak’s kukri. In the middle of the fight, Navin sees Matia’s ring, and Tak confirms that he killed her. Filled with rage, Navin continues fighting Tak, but he gets impaled by Tak’s kukri. Knowing he’s a goner either way, Navin bites a chunk of flesh out of Tak’s neck, causing him to bleed out.
Paklung manages to impale Ho and finally put him down. Wei is by Navin’s side and leaves Matia’s ring in his hand as he dies. Paklung goes after the children. Wei rushes to the top and pushes himself and Paklung out of a window. They fight each other ferociously, pummeling one another into the concrete until both of them are exhausted. Paklung rises and starts walking away, muttering about seeing his wife and child, until he drops dead. Rainy starts crying over Wei when he won’t wake up.
One month later, Wei is recovered. He is joined by Rainy, the limping boy (who is implied to have been adopted by Wei and Rainy), and Yadong (also recovering) as they scatter Navin’s ashes and pay tribute to him and Matia. A flashback shows that Wei (who had been referred to as “the Chinese Mute” for the whole film) revealed his name to Navin while in the prison cell. Wei takes Rainy to a beach, where he proceeds to tell her the story about himself and her mother.
A mute man named Wang Wei has his daughter Rainy kidnapped by traffickers. He teams up with a journalist named Navin, whose wife Matia went missing trying to expose the ring. The men start by going after Mr. Song, one of the top figures in the ring. After his defeat, Song is tortured by Wei and Navin into telling them the location of the trafficked children.
Wei and Navin locate the hideout, which is called the "Snake Pit". After Navin live-streams their location, police and civilians arrive outside the place. Rainy leads the trafficked children to safety after reuniting with her father. The men battle the traffickers while the children climb to safety. Sergeant Yadong defies the corrupt Chief of Police's orders to go rescue the children. The remaining traffickers are arrested, and the children are recovered and returned safely.
The trafficking leader, Paklung, learns that his organization is falling apart. He snaps and goes on a rampage, killing his kingpin father-in-law, the chief, many associates, and even his own wife and unborn child (but that was an accident and he is distraught). Paklung and his archer henchman Tak attack the police station and kill most of the cops before going after Wei and Navin, plus Rainy and one of the trafficked boys. Ho, the brutish son of Mr. Song who knows that Paklung and Tak killed his father, arrives to finish everyone off in a five-man showdown. Navin and Tak fight, where Tak admits he killed Matia. Tak impales Navin but he bites Tak's throat out, so they die together. Paklung kills Ho before going after Rainy. Wei tackles him out of a window, where they both fight until they physically cannot go further. Paklung dies from his injuries but Wei survives.
Wei honors Navin and Matia, and he is implied to have adopted Rainy's friend after bringing her home.
